Turboexpanders for low scale organic Rankine cycles suffer from high cost. Therefore, in my doctorate, I explored the opportunity of improving turboexpanders using polymers for structural components. With a numerical-experimental approach, the results suggest that polymers can be suitable to replace metals in some components, though concerns about lifespan must be studied in future investigations.
