In this talk I will present a novel point of view for the numerical simulation of compressible turbulent flows. It is based on two fundamental points: Adaptive dissipation and a posteriori stabilization. The main idea is to detect the points of the simulation where the flow is under-resolved, that is, the points where the flow structures are not well captured by the chosen numerical method and the given grid. Then, the intrinsic dissipation of the numerical method is adapted to dissipate the non-solved flow, mimicking the flows physics.
